Anonymous Reporting

For many victims of rape and sexual assault, the thought of making a formal report to the police is too frightening.  In fact 85% of victims chose not to report.  Every effort is being made by the relevant agencies to make it easier for victims to report as, for every unreported rape, there is another perpetrator who has not been held to account for his/her actions.

We respect that the choice to report is always yours and we also understand the reasons why so many people chose to avoid seeking justice.  In order not to lose your voice entirely, Twelves Company has worked with the police to establish an Anonymous Information Sharing System whereby we can submit anonymous intelligence to the police on your behalf.

This involves removing any information that might identify by allocating you a unique SARC number.  Only the number is submitted to the police with the information that you are willing to share.  No contact numbers or addresses are included.  You are in control of what information is supplied and must consent to what is sent.

You can give as much or as little information as you wish.  Some people are able to recall the name and address of their attacker; whereas others can only remember specific details such as what he or she looked like or was wearing.  This information is treated with utmost respect and confidentiality.  It is usually used to 'build a picture' of a situation or person.  In certain areas of the country, anonymous reporting has helped to catch serial perpetrators as the police were able to identify multiple victims.

Anonymous Information Sharing should not be treated as an alternative to reporting to the police as it is difficult for investigators to act on anonymous information.  Making a formal complaint is still the best way to receive the manpower and urgency that your case deserves.
