Group Therapy

Many victims of sexual harm wait a long time before accessing specialist help. As a result, common effects that require treatment include anger management problems, alcohol dependency, disassociation, self-harming, low self esteem, family breakdown and relationship problems, eating disorders, criminal behaviour, long-term unemployment and a lack of confidence.

Often the best way of treating these problems is by introducing clients to fellow survivors who are experiencing the same issues. This helps survivors realise that they are not alone and that many of their issues are common factors following rape or sexual assault.

Twelves Company offers a 12-week intensive program for up to 8 individuals per group. Separate sessions are held for men and women. The male group is held by male counsellors and the female group by female counsellors. Each counsellor is fully qualified, with experience of supporting survivors of sexual violence.

Each week, the group will focus on particular issues such as anger management, relationships, boundaries, confidence building and so on. The group sessions last approximately 2 hours.

If you are interested in joining a group, please contact our Case Manager on 08458 12-12-12, or carol@twelvescompany.co.uk
